The ultimate family social event at the Spectacular Escape to Freight Island!

Our Kids Social are back with a bang and are hosting a massive event for Manc families - are you ready to escape? 

Beat the back-to-school blues, break free from timetables and shopping lists and homework - come and send-off Summer in style. Make a run for it and join us at Escape to Freight Island on 19th Sept for the ultimate family social! We will be taking over the entire inside space and filling it with all of the joy you have come to expect from Our Kids Social. This will be our island - an island for families to come together in one community and have fun as we slip away from the daily norms and find... Brilliant music, boundless creativity and of course great food and drink. Pop-up areas to discover, dancefloors to dominate and a whole huge new venue to explore. 

So what’s on offer? 

We will of course have our resident DJ cruising through the classics to keep you moving on the dancefloor, but not only that, we will also have our two channel silent disco. Will it be Kids’ pop or adults’ guilty pleasures that you decide to tune into? You know the score - if you don’t like the tune, you get to flip the channel. Simple! 

Each group will have their own table and there will be a choice of food and drinks to purchase. Whether it’s a strong brew or a stiff drink that you are after, you will be able to find it here! 

As you know, it’s not all about the music at OKS - our events aim to bring families together to create and enjoy. We will have arts packs for each table, plus a fab pop-up with Lego Bricklands - let their creative juices flow as they design and build! Firm favourites Conker Crew will be joining us and setting up a gorgeous outdoors-indoors area for all ages to enjoy with forest school wonder. 

Imaginations will be running wild as hands are kept busy and faces are smiling throughout. Escape from the weekday chaos and relax into a space where you truly can come as you are. 

We will of course have a mystery trail around the venue for you to follow - all correct completed entries will go into a draw for family tickets to a future event. And - our facepainters will be back with beautiful designs to choose from - please note there is a charge of £1 for children or adults to have a stencil face paint - all other activities are included in ticket price. If you order food or drinks you will pay for these as you order. 

Finally we will have a mini-marketplace with stalls for you to shop at. All of these small businesses have been chosen as we value and buy from them ourselves. This is their opportunity to showcase what they do best, meet some new customers, and for you to pick up some treats for kids and adults alike. From kids clothing through to jewellery, cards and candles, make sure you bring some cash along to treat yourself. 

Bring your family to our community for a very special social event. Whether you have been to loads of our socials before or this is your first, we will welcome you all - we can’t wait to see you! 

Our Kids Social events are aimed at children aged under 12 and their families although all ages are very welcome. 

Tickets for this event are £6 per person. Babes in arms go free but must register for a ticket. You can bring a buggy to the venue but slings will be needed for the dancefloor.

There are several car parks directly opposite Freight Island and it is close to Piccadilly train station. Event runs 10-12, if you wish to stay in Freight Island after this time you will need to book a table separately through their online booking systems. 


About us - 

Our Kids Social was founded by Jo, Hannah and Alice. We put on family socials, corporate events, parties and celebrations across the north west. You will also find us popping up at festivals, collaborating with amazing and unique venues, working alongside fab local small businesses, and you can even hire our silent disco kit for your own shindigs and get togethers. 

With families of our own, OKS was born out of wanting something ace to do with our kids, our partners and our mates - something we could all enjoy. Not an event for adults that kids are allowed to go to and not an event for kids that adults can attend too - something for everyone. The community has grown over the past 6 years and we hope you enjoy our events and socials as much as we do because we love every minute.
